Marmoripalatsi
Helsinki, Kaivopuisto
Designed by architect Eliel Saarinen, completed in 1918
A renovation was carried out on the site in 2020-2021. Engineering firm Pohjatekniikka Oy designed and supervised the foundation works. Outside the granite block foundation, a pipe channel was excavated for rainwater pipes and external drainage, and the granite block foundation was reinforced and waterproofed. Floors were lowered in the building’s basement, and rock was chiseled in the basements to accommodate new structures, HVAC systems, and internal drainage to the required extent. The granite block foundations were reinforced. Additionally, space was excavated on the site for a new parking hall.
